1844 Silk Inscribed Potholder Quilt

Deep in the recesses of our museum collection rest several wonderful quilts.  We have started a journey to more fully research these handmade treasures from Bangor's past and during this process we rediscovered an inscribed silk potholder quilt made by the ladies of the Bangor's First Church and Parish in 1844.  The purpose of this page is to document our findings about the ladies who made this friendship quilt and the object itself.  We invite you to join our  journey as new information is discovered and uploaded over the next year.  New posts will be made regularly so check back often!  If you happen to know about one of these ladies and have a story to share, please contact our curator at curator@bangormuseum.org
