Endowment

We invite you to participate in the Bangor Museum and Center for History 's mission through your underwriting support. A contribution of $25 or more qualifies you to become a Museum member enjoying certain privileges depending on your membership level. All gifts made to the Bangor Museum and Center for History qualify as charitable contributions for federal tax purposes to an IRC Sec. 501(c)(3) organization. There are many ways to make a gift. Some have added benefits for the donor depending on age, type of asset contributed and the form of gift selected. The Bangor Museum and Center for History will work with you and your advisors to effectively accomplish your philanthropic objectives.

Outright Gifts
An outright gift of cash made via personal check, credit card, money order, wire transfer, bank draft, or currency is perhaps the easiest way to participate. Extending a gift in installments over a five year period may be more convenient for many donors, possibly allowing them to make larger gifts. Also, some firms will match dollar for dollar or more, the charitable contributions of their employees.

Gifts of Appreciated Securities
Donating long-term (held over 12 months) appreciated securities can offer added benefits -- an income tax deduction of the full, fair-market value of the stock on the date of the gift, and the avoidance of tax on the capital gain. Certain limitations may apply.

Deferred Gifts
Consider making a bequest to the Museum through your will, or naming the Museum in a charitable trust with the possibility of an annual income to you or your family. A gift can also be made using assets in your qualified retirement plan. It is advisable for donors to consult their legal and/or financial advisors when considering or making a deferred gift to the Museum.

Gifts of Personal Property
We are pleased to consider other gifts of property related to the mission of the Museum, such as area antiques and historical manuscripts and documents. Such gifts are fully tax-deductible at fair market value.
