Designed by Ashley B. Tower, Holyoke, Mass. This standpipe is unique in the nation as a water tower-observatory in the shingle style. It commands a sweeping view of the city and the hills beyond. When lit at night, it is known as "the diamonds in the crown of the Queen City."
